AR Setup

Augmented Reality (AR) is an interactive experience between computer-generated perceptual information and real-world environment

To experience works that have AR integrated, follow these steps bellow:

1. Download provided app

– The works that are compatible with AR will have a hashtag “#AR” in the project descriptions

– To try out AR mode, you will need to download and install a specific *Android application on your device

– On the project descriptions, there will be a link to that AR application

– Access the link and download the app to your device

*at the moment, there is only supported AR application for Android

2. Install AR app on you device

– Before installing the application on your device, you need to tell it to allow you to install *unknown apps

– For Android Nougat, go to Settings > Security (or Lock Screen and Security) > Device Administration and enable Unknown Sources

– For Android Oreo, go to Settings > Apps and Notifications and select Install Unknown Apps (or Install Other Apps)

– Find the APK file from step 1 and tap it, then hit Install

*Android device considers any application outside of Google Play an “unknown app”

3. Try out the app with provided image target

– At the first time running the app, press Allow when a notification pop up asking for permission to access your device camera

– The AR app will access your device camera and act similar to the default camera application

– Pointing the camera to the right image target and the AR app will do the rest

– The compatible image targets have a certain identifying frame which looks like this:

– If the image get business, you can adjust the focal point by pressing on the main screen of the device

– Feel free to move around when trying the app, just make sure that the image isn’t completely out of view of the camera
